Máire-Treasa is the well-known face of “RUGBAÍ BEO” on TG4. As an experienced television presenter, she has been involved in media for the past eight years and loves the variety her job brings. Having previously presented a number of studio-based TV shows, she embarked on a roadtrip in 2015, for two summers, along the Wild Atlantic Way for popular series “FÉILTE: SLÍ AN ATLANTAIGH”
She took centre stage at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Sligo in 2016 for IFTA award winning “FLEADH TV” and in the same year was selected by a panel of industry experts as one of the six broadcasters nominated for the “RISING STAR AWARD” at the IFTA GALA television Awards.
TG4 marked two decades on-air with a live concert broadcast, ‘TG4XX Beo’, on Halloween night in 2016 and the three hour live broadcast was hosted by Máire Treasa and Páidí Ó Lionáird.
Máire Treasa recently fronted two series of “AN RÍL DEAL”-the traditional Irish Dancing show, where the winner wins a trip to New York City to perform on Broadway and “LÁR STÁITSE” a new live two-hour broadcast from Oireachtas na Gaeilge for young audiences, which featured traditional oral arts as Gaeilge, spotlighting the agallamh beirte (dialogue in verse) from the oral tradition as well as Sean-nós dancing and singing.
Her highlight from 2017 was presenting the first LIVE BROADCAST of the Winter Solstice at Newgrange in Co Meath. Organised by Fáílte Ireland, thousands of people from all over the World tuned in to see the 5,000 year old phenomenon.
She never strays too far from the World of Sport and loved reporting from GAA matches for the ever popular “SUNDAY GAME” last summer, as well as being anchor for All-Ireland match previews with former players and current journalists with INDEPENDENT.IE and “EIR SPORT”. Now as the rugby season is reaching its pinnacle, she loves nothing more than wrapping up on the sidelines for some thrilling rugby encounters.
MC events to-date have included 3 years of presenting awards at the IFTA’s, Live MC at the 50th “International Eucharistic Congress”, Live MC at the “Heineken Cup” gala dinner in the RDS 2013, MC for the “Innovating West” summit in Galway 2015, Live MC at the “Guinness Rugby Roadshow” in Connacht and at the 2015 “Guinness Pro12” awards at the Guinness storehouse, as well as being involved in the “Gaisce an Uachtaráin” awards in 2017 and 2018. For the past two years she has hosted her own “Wellness Workshop” with personal trainer Kathie Stritch, former Rugby player Alan Quinlan, well-known chef and blogger Roz Purcell and motivational speaker Gerry Duffy.
